Privacy Policy
The short version:
- We collect only what we need to run the site and answer you.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Nothing you send us is posted publicly without being reviewed, and we only share names or stories with your permission.
- You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at any time.
This Privacy Policy explains how No Workplace Like Home ("No Workplace Like Home," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit noworkplacelikehome.com and any related pages (the "Site"), contact us, or use our resources. No Workplace Like Home is operated by Lakewen Enterprises LLC, a Louisiana limited liability company.
By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information we collect
Information you choose to give us
When you email us, including through any button on the Site (for example, joining the weekly email, sharing a tip, telling us you got hired, sending a job lead, reporting a possible scam, making a suggestion, requesting a feature on the Services Board, or sending a business inquiry), we receive:
- Your name and email address, if included
- The contents of your message and anything you attach
- Any details you choose to share, such as a job title, company name, link, or your story
Please do not send us sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, bank or card details, passwords, medical information, or copies of identification documents. We do not need this information and will not ask for it.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used to keep the Site running, secure, and working properly.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. The Site does not currently set its own advertising cookies. Some third-party services we use, described below, may use cookies or similar technologies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended.
2. How we use information
- To respond to your messages, questions, and business inquiries
- To send the weekly email or shop updates you asked for
- To review community submissions and, only with your permission, share them on the Site
- To look into possible job scams you report so we can warn others
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse
- To comply with the law and protect our rights and the rights of others
3. Community submissions
Tips, encouragement, hiring news, job leads, and other submissions are never posted automatically. Every submission is reviewed first. We may choose not to publish a submission, and we may edit it for length, clarity, or privacy. We will only publish your name, story, or identifying details with your permission, and we will use only your first name unless you tell us otherwise. Please do not include other people's personal information in what you send us.
4. Email communications
If you ask to join our weekly email or to be told when the shop opens, we will use your email address for that purpose. Every marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can also email us at any time to be removed. We will still send messages that are necessary to respond to you.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited situations:
- Service providers: companies that help us run the Site, such as our web host, email provider, and, in the future, newsletter, payment, or course platforms. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal reasons: when we believe in good faith that sharing is required by law, legal process, or a government request, or is needed to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users, the public, or us.
- Business transfers: if our business or assets are sold, merged, or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
- With your permission: for example, when you agree to let us share your success story.
6. Third-party services
Fonts
The Site uses Google Fonts to display text. When a page loads, your browser may contact Google's servers, which can receive your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Advertising
We may display advertising on the Site in the future, including through Google AdSense. If we do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this Site or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also learn more and opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If we add advertising, analytics, or other tracking tools, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any consent options or opt-outs required by law.
Links to other websites
The Site links to outside websites, such as free skill tests, free lessons, job postings, and government resources. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, such as responding to you or sending emails you requested, or as required by law. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
8. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect information, including a secure (HTTPS) connection to the Site. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Email is not a fully secure way to send information, which is one reason we ask you never to send sensitive details.
9. Your choices and rights
You may contact us at any time to:
- Ask what personal information we have about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information
- Unsubscribe from emails
- Withdraw permission to share a story or submission you gave us
Depending on where you live, including in California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know, access, correct, or delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising, and the right not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email us at the address below. We may need to confirm your identity before completing a request, and you may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
10. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no common standard for how to respond to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We will honor legally recognized opt-out signals where required by law.
11. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults who are 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Visitors outside the United States
The Site is operated in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed and stored in the United States, where privacy laws may be different from those in your country.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the updated policy.
